What can kevin do for you?

A second (and independent) read-through of psycho-educational evaluations and reports:

  • I have the training to interpret these evaluations and have myself administered and scored most of the tests involved. 
  • I provide a visual breakdown of the results that omits any numbers and includes a strengths-focused oral interpretation.
  • In addition to knowing what the results do and do not mean, I  place those results in the context of the student's current school setting, noting recommendations that will be useful and easy to implement and those that will take more energy to implement.


A review of a current IEP, 504, or formal accommodations plan: 

  • I have written hundreds of these plans over the years, and read through even more. I can help you distinguish good goals and measurements from "copy and paste" text.
  • I provide advice on changes to request and follow-up to ensure that the goals and accommodations are accurately and consistently implemented.
  • I have, at the parents' request, attended IEP and 504 meetings as an advocate for the student.


General advice on school accommodations and placement:

  • I have successfully advised students and their parents on accommodations to request at independent secondary schools and colleges, and can walk you through that process.
  • I've worked at the college level and interacted with learning support departments at several colleges on behalf of my students - and later heard from my students what it was really like at that college. Quality of support varies greatly at this level, and an ability to read between the lines of the learning support webpage helps.
  • If you are considering an independent school for your child or client, the odds are that over the past thirty years I've sent a student to that school, received a student from that school into my program, or worked with a few teachers currently at that school. I'm happy to share that "insider" knowledge with you.

I am NOT an educational consultant.  Certified educational consultants have visited the campuses of dozens and dozens of schools; they've met the students and staff, taken the tour, and noted the condition of the facilities as well as the atmosphere of the school.


I have worked with several educational consultants in my role as a learning specialist, and I have provided my thoughts on psycho-educational  evaluations and potential school placements based on the consultant's understanding of the client and my own knowledge of a number of schools that work with students who learn differently.
